The Green Ministry
This is an upcoming ministry at KCPC. While we develop it, you can start being green at home now. Small changes in your life can add up to a big difference in the world. Here are a few simple tips:
-
Buy organic.
Organic foods are better for people and the planet too. Prevent the spread of toxic chemicals in our air, water and soil by bringing home organic. -
Buy local.
It instigates a new supply and demand process that reduces carbon footprints. It's unprocessed, fresher, healthier, and tastier. -
Buy concentrated products.
Less packaging and lighter weight reduce the carbon footprint of shipping. -
Install compact fluorescent light bulbs.
CFL's use 75% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and last 10 times longer. You'll save $30 per bulb. -
Use reusable shopping bags.
The oil used to make 14 plastic bags will power your car for a mile. Learn more -
Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth.
Save 25 gallons of water per month. -
Use earth-friendly cleaning products.
The EPA says air pollution indoors may be 2-5 times higher than outside. Create a safer home with newer options. -
Reduce water in your toilet tank.
Save 300 gallons of water per month with a liter bottle of water in your tank. -
Turn your thermostat down in the Winter.
Save up to 5% of your heating costs by lowering your thermostat to 60-70°.
We're hoping to become a neighborhood recycling center, starting with recycling our own bowls, cups, papers, programs, bottles, cans, batteries, light bulbs, ink cartridges, and cell phones. Got any other green ideas? Contact us!
